Your conversations never leave your phone; recognition, translation and speech all happen on your device
ULAK (the "App") is a voice translation app that lets two people understand each other while speaking different languages. This policy explains what information is processed, and how, when you use the App.
1. What data do we collect?
We do not collect your conversations or translations. ULAK has no server, database or user accounts of its own; your conversations, translations and settings stay only on your phone, and we have no technical access to them. The App itself goes online in only two cases, and neither sends any conversation content: (1) when you open the subscription screen, make a purchase or restore purchases, it connects to our subscription provider Adapty (see section 7); (2) at most once a day it asks Apple's public App Store lookup service whether a new version is available; this request contains no personal data. In two-phone mode, conversation text goes directly to the nearby phone you paired with over an encrypted local connection; it never passes through the internet or a server.
Beyond that, what goes online are iOS's own Apple services, and they belong to the operating system, not to the App: downloading language packs and speech models from Apple, subscription transactions through the App Store, and Apple's rating prompt. In none of these does the content of your conversations reach Apple or us.
2. Where does your voice go?
Nowhere. Speech recognition runs entirely on the device: ULAK requires Apple's speech recognition to run in on-device mode, and if the required language pack is not installed on your phone it does not start recognition at all; instead of sending your voice to Apple's servers, it asks you to download the pack.
Raw audio is never written anywhere. Audio from the microphone is processed only to be transcribed at that moment and stays in memory; it is not stored as a file and not sent anywhere.
3. How is translation done?
Translation uses Apple's Translation framework with language packs downloaded to your device. No cloud translation service is used. Likewise, translations are read aloud with the system voices on your device.
4. What is stored on your device?
Only the following, and only on your phone:
- Conversation history: the spoken text, its translation, the two language codes, the date and a conversation identifier. (Text, not audio.)
- Your settings: the selected language pair, voice preferences, speaking rate, whether translations are read aloud, and whether history is saved.
- Daily usage counter: a simple number kept only on your device; it is not sent to anyone.
- Subscription status: read from the purchase record Apple keeps on the device. Adapty, the subscription infrastructure we use, stores your purchase history (product, date, trial/renewal/cancellation state) on its servers under a random profile ID generated by the App; this record is not linked to your name, email or Apple Account.
The history file is stored encrypted on your device and cannot be read while your phone is locked (with the App closed).
5. Microphone and speech recognition permissions
The App asks for microphone and speech recognition permission so it can hear what you say and turn it into text. These permissions are used only for that purpose. You can revoke them at any time in iOS Settings › ULAK.
6. Deleting history and backups
You can delete saved conversations one by one, or all at once with "Delete All" in the History tab. If you turn off "Save history" under Settings › Privacy, new conversations are not saved at all.
Saved history is included in your phone's iCloud or computer backup; that backup belongs to your Apple Account, and Majka Solutions cannot access it. When you remove the App from your device, all data inside the App is deleted with it.
7. Advertising, analytics and tracking
ULAK does not use any ad network, behavioural tracking or crash reporting service, and does not collect your advertising identifier (IDFA). The only third-party library it contains is the Adapty SDK, which we use to manage subscriptions. Adapty does not run when the App launches; it is only activated when you open the subscription screen, make a purchase or restore purchases. It then processes your purchase history, a random profile identifier and technical information such as app version, OS version, language/region and time zone; sending of the device identifier (IDFV) and analytics identifiers is disabled, and it has no access to your conversation content, location or IP address (IP collection is disabled). This data is used to verify your subscription and to understand which plan is chosen; it is not used for tracking or advertising.
8. Accounts and subscription
There is no membership or account in ULAK. The free version allows a set number of translations per day; for unlimited use, an auto-renewing monthly or yearly subscription called ULAK Premium is offered.
The subscription is handled entirely through Apple's App Store infrastructure (StoreKit). Your payment details, invoices and subscription management belong to your Apple Account; Majka Solutions has no access to your name, email, card or payment details. The App reads the "subscription active / not active" status that Apple reports on the device; Apple also forwards the same information to Adapty through server notifications (see section 7). Offer codes and "Restore Purchases" work through the same Apple infrastructure. Cancellations and refunds are handled in the subscription settings of your Apple Account.
9. Our position under data protection law
Because your conversation and translation data never leave your device and Majka Solutions never has access to them, we carry out no processing of that data. The limited purchase data processed by Adapty to verify subscriptions is described in sections 7 and 8. You remain in full control of the data on your device.
10. Children's privacy
ULAK does not knowingly collect data from children under 13 and is not designed for them.
11. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when new features are added to the App. The current version is always published on this page.
